Q. What is the problem?
A. The entire length of Marywood Dr is in sad disrepair. Standing water constantly, whether it has rained or it. Mosquitos are a major issue because of the lack of adequate storm drainage. There is a storm drain at the corner of Marywood Dr and St Francis Rd that is cracking up and is now becoming so late I'm afraid a small child or pet will fall in. Please consider adequately fixing these roads!

The amount of issues this neighborhood's roads and drainage system have are startling.
Really bad, actually.
Curbs cracked, curbs missing, curbs patched poorly. Curbs smashed down, melted. Some areas they are concrete, others asphalt.
Manholes well below pavement grade. In some areas 6+" Other manholes paved over the outside rims.
Speed humps crumbling in some areas, others trapping standing water. (Ice in winter).
Storm drain covers pushed back from years of plow damage. Brick drains inside the drains crumbling.
The County may not want to repave the whole neighborhood, but another bandaid won't cut it.
If the county doesn't address the issues it could lead to someone getting seriously hurt or lawsuits if homes are damaged due to county's neglect of their infrastructure.
The neighborhood doesn't just need some road patches. It needs revamped storm drainage, curbs and pavement. The can has been kicked for too long.

I hope the county realizes its not just 2 of us complaining. I have 5 longtime neighbors (marywood x2, sweetbriar, princeton and purdue) in the "silent majority" talk to me about the exact same stuff. I am positive there are more concerned people if you'd like some names and address. They complained of the inadequate curbs and drainage during moderate rains and whole houses shaking when busses/ trash trucks hit those large manhole "potholes."
Public Works has been quite good and responsive in the past. Hopeful this can get resolved the right way too.

Please see response below from Mr. Jeff Stratmeyer, Chief Engineer with the Department of Public Works:
1. The Highway's drainage supervisor and staff performed a very good review/analysis of the storm drains to ensure they are in acceptable condition. There were a few minor items and a garbage can lid in one of the lines that may have contributed to blocking up the water, but as a whole, they are in good condition and we aren't going to be upgrading them.
2. The roads have also been inspected. They are currently in reasonable condition and will be scheduled for resurfacing / upgrading in the future.
3. The curbs have very little "reveal" (which means the height above the resurfaced road) and some of them are in a state of disrepair, however, they are also functioning as they should by keeping the water in the roadway and flowing toward the storm drains - despite their appearance. When the road is repaired, we will look into repairing / replacing the curbing as necessary to bring them up to better standards.
We regret that we aren't able to resurface these roads at this time, but will continue to maintain them as best we can until such time that they can be reconstructed. If you see issues with potholes or suspect something has gotten into a storm drain to block it up, please contact our Bureau of Highways and they will put in a service request to inspect the location.

I appreciate your team's time, effort and work. I am disappointed we are still some time away from the improvements, but pleased you did a thorough inspection and have us in mind for future work. Thank you! I appreciate the response. Have a nice week!
